Ashes 2023: Sky Sports to deploy Quidich Hyperview on coverage of England vs Australia series

Quidich Hyperview player tracking technology will be used by Sky Sports during its coverage of England vs Australia in cricket’s Ashes series.

Hyperview shots will be captured from floodlight pylons around the grounds in order to track fielder movements.

The tech will give an insight into options for batters and bowlers based on field placements, with viewers able to see fielding positions from the perspective of the batter.

Enhanced CricViz stats will also be used on the coverage to track which side is “in front” as the matches progress.

At the same time, AE Live has produced new on-screen graphics for Sky Sports’ output.

As well as being the UK rights holders, Sky Sports is the host broadcaster for the series.

SVG Europe will have more details on these and other innovations next week when we interview Sky Sports director of cricket Bryan Henderson.

The Ashes starts today (16 June) at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The five-match series culminates at The Oval in July.
