Deadline to register looms: SVG Europe Women gears up for networking event at Lord’s
SVG Europe Women is gearing up for its first networking event of 2019, being held at Lord’s on the evening of 22 May following SportTech 2019. The line up for the evening is full of top names from the sports broadcasting industry, and with the deadline for registration looming on Monday 13 May, now is the time to make sure you and your colleagues are signed up to attend.
With ample opportunities for networking and an optional tour of Lord’s cricket ground starting at 5.30pm, the event, which is sponsored by Imagen, includes speakers from the BBC, Sky Sports, the England and Wales Cricket Board and CTV Outside Broadcasts.
Kerry Freeman, sales executive at sponsor for the women’s event, Imagen, commented: “We are really excited to be able to support SVG Europe Women at this event. It’s great to support the sports broadcast industry and women in this way, helping women continue to make inroads into this sector. We’re thrilled to be part of SVG Europe Women.”
With sports broadcast presenter Abi Stephens our MC for the evening, the first panel will explore the BBC’s evolving coverage of cricket now and going forward. Attendees will hear from Isabelle Westbury, sports broadcaster and former Middlesex Captain, BBC Sport head of production for radio, digital and cricket, Dominique Middleton, and Henry Moeran, BBC Sport Test Match Special producer. In this session we find out how the BBC coverage of men’s and women’s cricket has developed over the years, the move into digital and challenges ahead.
The next session, The sticky wicket of women’s cricket: Inside summer 2019 women’s cricket broadcasting, will see the England and Wales Cricket Board’s broadcast and media operations manager, Aoife Murphy, Sky Sports production executive, Jennie Blackmore, and Angela Gibbons, commercial manager at CTV Outside Broadcast, talking about this summer’s women’s cricket, from the West Indies Tour to the Ashes, plus the technology and logistics behind what is takes to pull coverage together for awaiting fans.
Heather McLean, editor and internal head of SVG Europe Women, stated: “We’ve only got a few days to go until registration closes for our Lord’s event so please make sure you and your colleagues, female and male, are signed up to attend! Our theme of all things cricket for this event will provide the true inside story on what goes on under the hood of cricket coverage, both for women’s and men’s events, and where it’s all going. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there!”
The SVG Europe Women Networking Event is part of a packed SportTech 2019 programme that also includes sessions on successful live streaming, launching an OTT service and creating sports highlights and clips for social media and the web.
A preview of how the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup will be covered on TV and online and a ‘Carbon Literacy for Sports Production’ workshop are also included.
As with all SVG Europe events, there will be plenty of networking opportunities throughout SportTech 2019 and delegates will also get the chance to take part in a guided tour of Lord’s.
