Imagine Communications renews Gold SVG Europe sponsorship

Imagine Communications has renewed its Gold sponsorship of SVG Europe.

Mathias Eckert, SVP & GM EMEA and APAC at Imagine Communications, said: “SVG Europe shares Imagine’s commitment to driving technical innovation and plays a pivotal role in fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing and industry growth. Sponsoring SVG Europe enables us to actively contribute to the conversation surrounding emerging technology, industry trends and best practices, and we look forward to engaging with the SVGE community to collectively advance the capabilities of sports production in 2024 and beyond.”

The move comes on the back of a busy 2023 for the company with numerous new product releases and enhancements, partnerships and projects. A key focus has been open-standard ST2110 solutions that enable media companies to migrate from SDI to IP. Recent deployments include Italian communications and broadcast-transmission specialist EI Towers, which aired the 2022-23 season of Italy’s football Lega Serie A from a new broadcast centre built on ST2110–compliant IP infrastructure produced by Imagine and implemented by Creative Technology, and Sky Italia, which used a planned technology refresh to migrate its Rome operations centre to ST2110.

In 2023, the era of early adoption gave way to widespread implementation of ST2110 IP infrastructure, which will continue into 2024 as the world prepares for the Paris Games,” he added. “One high-profile example of this momentum took centre stage at IBC2023 during an Imagine-hosted panel session titled, ‘ST2110 IP Goes Mainstream with Broadcast Leader Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS)’.

“In another IP milestone, Imagine demonstrated our firm commitment to the 2110 standard with the IBC introduction of SNP-XL, which extends our Selenio Network Processor’s broad capabilities with a new double-density gateway personality. SNP-XL was designed with the recognition that SDI is still in the game ― offering a high-density synchronising gateway that enables customers to transition to IP at a pace driven entirely by their own economics.”
