Leader introduces JPEG XS option for LV5600 and LV7600 test instruments

Leader Instruments has made a major addition to its range of broadcast-quality test and measurement solutions. The LV5600-SER33 for the LV5600 waveform monitor and LV7600-SER33 for the LV7600 rasteriser now provide support for JPEG XS (SMPTE ST2110-22) compressed signals up to 4K.

Available as a licence option, the SER33 can perform JPEG XS stream parsing, decoding and encoding, compressed video signal and packet header analysis, packet error detection and comparative display of JPEG XS, SDP and ST2110-40. The SER33 toolset also includes the ability to output JPEG XS compressed video test signals.

Leader’s SER33 allows production staff in a studio or on location to monitor and analyse the quality of incoming or outgoing JPEG XS signals using the wide range of test and measurement tools available within the LV5600 and LV7600. These checks can be performed during pre-transmission line-up and live production. Decoded JPEG XS signal streams can be compared alongside uncompressed test sources using the multiscreen facilities common to both instruments.

The LV5600 is a mains-powered SDI/IP waveform monitor in a half-rack width 3U desktop chassis with a touchscreen front panel display. It provides the facilities needed to monitor SDI as well as video-over-IP signals seamlessly in a hybrid operating environment.

The SER33 JPEG XS decode/encode option will be demonstrated at NAB 2023.
