Media Tech Sustainability Series unveils NAB 2024 events and initiatives

The Media Tech Sustainability Series (MTSS) has announced a series of events and initiatives set to take place at the NAB Show 2024

Ahead of NAB Show’s official opening, MTSS will host ‘Sustainability in Media 101,’ a training event aimed at media tech professionals, including those tasked with sustainability as well as those who want to understand the fundamentals.

The session is crafted to share essential and foundational knowledge and practices for integrating sustainability practices, including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, into the media sector’s business operations.

Available free of charge to attendees, the aims to be an invaluable resource for those committed to steering their organisations toward a sustainable future but still need a good foundational understanding of sustainability concepts. It will take place on 13 April, 1–5pm at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Room N118LMR.

Delegates can secure their seats at https://www.mtsseries.org/sustainability-in-media-101

And, in collaboration with NAB Show, MTSS has developed the ‘Sustainable Exhibitor Stamp’ – recognition for exhibitors who demonstrate a commitment to sustainability within their show presence.

This initiative not only highlights the importance of sustainable practices but also provides a platform for exhibitors to showcase their efforts in making a significant, positive impact on the environment. MTSS will score exhibitors based on their responses to the Sustainable Exhibitor questionnaire. NAB Show exhibitors are welcome to participate by submitting their self-assessment from this webform at: https://www.mtsseries.org/sustainable-exhibitor.

In addition, The Sustainable MediaTech Hub will provide a virtual showcase of vendors in the media tech sector who are leading the charge towards a more sustainable industry. MTSS described the virtual Hub is “an essential stop for NAB Show attendees and the wider industry, offering a glimpse into the future of media production, distribution, and consumption through the lens of sustainability”.

Visitors to the virtual Hub will find innovative technologies and product solutions from vendors who prioritise environmental responsibility. Future Hub enhancements will include a directory and the opportunity to connect with a community of pioneers, innovators, and thought leaders dedicated to reshaping and “greening” the media tech landscape.

MTSS is dedicated to fostering responsibility and innovation in the areas of environment, sustainability and governance (ESG).

“We set out to create a platform that not only highlights the crucial role of sustainability in our industry but also drives actionable steps toward ESG integration. The MTSS at NAB Show 2024 marks a significant milestone, providing an unprecedented opportunity for professionals in media, entertainment, and technology to embrace and champion sustainability.

“Our initiatives, like the ‘Sustainability in Media 101’ training event and the Sustainable Exhibitor Stamp, empower attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to advance sustainable practices. Together, we’re shaping a more sustainable future in media technology,” said Barbara Lange, co-founder, MTSS.

Co-founder Lisa Collins added: “The introduction of the Sustainable Media Tech Hub is a prime example of our commitment to ESG transparency in the industry.  We are pleased to showcase the pioneering efforts of vendors committed to environmental innovation.

“As co-founders, Barbara and I are passionate about empowering others with the necessary insights and tools to not only adopt sustainable practices but also to lead the charge in securing a sustainable future for our field. It’s about creating a movement that transforms the landscape of media technology through sustainability.”

The MTSS booth can be found at W4730 in West Hall.
