Nordic Summit 2019: BBC Sport’s Cope to discuss PSB challenges

BBC Sport head of operations Charlie Cope has been added to the speaker line-up for next month’s Nordic Summit at Media City Bergen.

The hugely experienced exec, who has been with the BBC since 1990, will appear in conversation with SVG editorial executive director Ken Kerschbaumer discussing the challenges that public service broadcasters face in the converging broadcast and digital world.

Topics to be covered include the changing role of the PSB, attracting the next generation of viewer and innovation in technology across UHD, IP, remote production and digital platform delivery.

Other speakers confirmed for the free-to-attend event include TV2 Norway editor Christine Espeland, Host Broadcast Services (HBS) chief technology officer Christian Gobbel, NRK Beta strategic advisor Eirik Solheim, TV2 Denmark graphics producer Adi Strichman, SVT technical producer Madelen Ottosson and Fox Sports NL head of production Henk van Meerkerk.

Among the topics being discussed will be coverage of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships which is currently taking place in Åre, Sweden.

As with all SVG Europe events, there will be ample networking opportunities throughout the day including one the night before the Summit, on the evening of Wednesday 6 March.

The Nordic Summit, produced in association with NCE Media and Media City Bergen and sponsored by Limelight Networks, will take place on 7 March 2019.
