Royal Ascot 2021 gets the RaceTech treatment with global broadcast and technical provision

The global attraction that is Royal Ascot is being covered with global broadcast and technical provision from RaceTech.

Royal Ascot requires TV coverage around the world, and RaceTech was able to play a major part in facilitating the live broadcast for 2021.

This year, under the Government’s second phase for Events Research, the Royal five day meeting has been allowed a limited introduction of up to 12,000 participants daily. On-course hospitality, fashion and lifestyle attractions have returned under regulations and RaceTech has been able to deliver a full programme of daily events around the main racing attraction for broadcast customers.

Utilising its flagship outside broadcast unit, OB10, supported by a second OB unit to service the Hong Kong Jockey Club, RaceTech’s teams are well-equipped to provide enhanced footage.

“Hats on, umbrellas, up – we’re live in 3,2…”

John Bozza, CEO at RaceTech, commented, “It will be great to see crowds back for the Royal meeting. It’s a very busy week for us with lots of additional requirements and a large team on site. As well as providing full broadcast coverage for Sky Sports Racing we are providing all the footage for Ascot TV and the Ascot World Feed. We also facilitate coverage for the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Betfred TV. Additionally, this year we have a dedicated edit suite providing a constant flow of clips for the International News Agencies”.

Sky Sports Racing’s daily coverage includes enhanced production with both studio and on-course live coverage. Ascot TV is a bespoke and enhanced RaceTech production with many exciting extras using fixed and RF mobile cameras.

A new fashion and lifestyle set has been created and will be hosted by two presenters welcoming guests both on-course and via Zoom.

RaceTech is also providing integrity services for the BHA which includes the highly acclaimed reverse angle Photo Finish camera.

RaceTech’s remote press conferencing facility will be in use, as it has been at other festivals throughout the pandemic. The facility enables Ascot to deliver live daily conferences for the global media on and off course.

Royal Ascot runs from 15 June to 19 June 2021.
