Sky Deutschland works with RCS for enhanced Bundesliga offering
As the Bundesliga became the first top tier league to return to live football last weekend, Sky Deutschland worked with Reality Check Solutions to deliver a new production workflow using the Singular.Live platform for dynamic graphic overlays.
Since this was the return of live top tier sport, the eyes of the world were on Bundesliga and Sky wanted to give something more to their fans. The challenge of playing matches in empty stadiums made it even more important to deliver a new level of engagement for viewers. This was the inspiration for Sky’s ‘#CouchKurve’, a new linear and digital FanEngagement Feed for Sky subscribers.
RCS worked with Sky to create the new show using Singular.Live. As a fully cloud platform, Singular enabled graphics operators to work remotely since all graphics were controlled from a web browser.
Not only did this allow Sky to prioritise the safety of the production team by reducing the number of staff on site, it also meant they reduced the environmental impact of the production since no graphics kit or personnel were required to travel to the grounds or Sky production studios.
Sky Deutschland VP of Sports Production, and SVG Europe advisory board chair, Alessandro Reitano said: “RCS has been a long standing partner for us and their ability to help us navigate the latest technologies has been priceless, now more than ever. Understanding the Intelligent Overlays that Singular provides helps us take a step towards the future. Having seen what Singular can do for cloud and remote productions, the team are already wanting to dig in deeper and see what else we can do with the platform with interactivity high on our list!”
RCS’ Jeff Heimbold commented: “We have worked with Sky Germany since 2011 when we helped launch Sky Sport News and they have always been passionate about innovation. In recent years they’ve been equally focused on reducing their impact on the environment.
“Utilising Singular on the #CouchKurve project gave RCS and Sky a unique opportunity to deliver a new, engaging program at minimal cost with very little carbon footprint. It is a fantastic example for any media company facing the same challenges.”
