Sky revs the engines for Formula 1 in HD

Sky Sports F1 HD will broadcast the latest Formula 1 World Championship live in HD around the clock. The channel will broadcast all 19 Grand Prix: ten are exclusive, while the remaining nine will be delivered in conjunction with a free-to-air network that will broadcast the others with a delay of a few hours.

As the result of a agreement with Formula One Management (FOM) which enabled Italy to obtain Sky TV rights of the FIA World Rally Championship Formula 1 in 2013, Sky Sports F1 HD will provide live HD coverage of the Grand Prix practice sessions and qualifiers, as well as interviews, analysis and more. More than 1,000 hours of live broadcasts will be enhanced by an experienced commentary team. In addition to the dedicated channel, there will also be coverage on Sky Sport 24 HD.

In other news, Sky has secured rights to screen the FIM MotoGP World Championship, due to an agreement with organiser Dorna Sports. From the 2014 season, Sky will broadcast all 18 races in the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 classes.
