SVG Europe hosts French sports production event in Paris

SVG Europe Advisory Board member Lise Cosimi welcomes attendees to the France Summit 2023

SVG Europe welcomed the French sports production community to Paris yesterday (Thursday 9 November) for an evening of networking and panel discussions.

Hosted with event partners AMP VISUAL TV, the French-language event took place at the iconic Studio Gabriel.

After some introductory remarks from SVG Europe Advisory Board member Lise Cosimi, who also chaired the evening’s discussions, the night began with a discussion about the remote production operation of Ligue Nationale de Basket by L’Equipe’s 21 Production and AMP Visual for the streaming platform Skweek.

In front of a packed audience, Ligue Nationale de Basket Entertainment director Guillaume Carrey and Skweek head of editorial and content Cyril Mejane began by explaining the aims and objectives of shifting to a remote production operation.

21 Production head of production Jerome Aubin and Igor Trégarot, AMP VISUAL TV deputy managing director, operations then spoke about the practicalities of working remotely.

Up next was a discussion on the use of 5G at the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

During this session, a panel of experts outlined why a private 5G network is to be established for Paris 2024 and how it will be used for coverage of the Opening Ceremony, before looking ahead to the likely evolution and adoption of 5G by the live productions.

The lineup of speakers on the subject of 5G included France Télévisions TechLab director Romuald Rat, AMP VISUAL TV joint managing director Stéphane Alessandri, Paris 2024 senior project manager mobile & Radio Infrastructures for Road Events 5G Private Network Deployment Laurent Zwahlen, TVU Networks, Marketing, Europe Christelle Brausch and Olympic Broadcasting Services, Director of Telecommunications Mario Reis.

Along with AMP VISUAL TV, the evening was supported by SVG Europe sponsors Tata Communications, TVU Networks, Seagate and Cobalt.
