Training for TV launches stand-alone modular training courses

Training For TV, a UK based company offering training to organisations of every size, from broadcasters to individual freelancers, has launched a series of modular training courses. The sessions have been developed in recognition of the demand for focused and efficient training that enables delegates to concentrate on those elements which best fit their needs.

To ensure that modules are available to its worldwide clientele, Training for TV has scheduled them to cater to delegates in different time zones. The scheduling also ensures that delegates can opt to take a course outside of their normal working hours, avoiding the need to lose valuable work time. And, for those wishing to enrol on an entire course, they can simply select all modules at times to suit themselves.

Company directors Neil Garner and Mike Butler have provided training in more than 40 countries, drawing on their wealth of knowledge and experience.

Garner, whose career in training began at the BBC’s Wood Norton training centre, said: “We have taken the opportunity offered by the COVID-19 pandemic to reassess how we deliver courses. While we expect to return to some face-to-face training in the coming months and years, it is the move to virtual training that has given us the scope to make individual elements of courses available as stand-alone units.”

Overarching themes of the courses offered as modular units include: Production Processes and Workflows; Systems; Sound; Video; Files, Formats and Codecs; AV Archiving; QC; The Craft of Editing; and Train the Trainer.

Butler who, prior to his career as a trainer, worked as an editor and post supervisor for several of London’s top post houses, added: “We have both spent the past 18 months refining our teaching methods to maximise the benefits to our students of virtual training sessions. All our courses can be delivered via Zoom or Teams and provide impactful and engaging training without compromising the core principles of thoroughness, effectiveness and professionalism that we hold dear.“
