XD motion captivates Rugby World Cup viewers with camera innovations

Cutting-edge technology and a dedicated team from XD motion played a pivotal role in capturing the high-octane action and enthralling emotions of the Rugby World Cup, ensuring a captivating viewing experience for rugby aficionados worldwide.

The company’s newly deployed drone RF Hexacam along with the X fly 3D was at the forefront during the South Africa vs Ireland live broadcast on 23 September, delivering ultra high definition (UHD) and high definition (HD) footage that brought viewers closer to the field action. This endeavour was a collaborative effort with HBS, AMP and EMG, alongside the respective directors who ensured seamless coverage of the games.

As anticipation for the tournament built, XD motion was also called upon to enhance the live broadcast of the match between France and Australia on TF1, as the home nation concluded its preparations for the tournament. Under the direction of Laurent Daum and with technical resources provided by AMP, the X fly 3D was instrumental in capturing dynamic 3D cable cam shots within the Stade de France.

During the tournament itself, XD motion’s creative team meticulously executed live outside shots using drones. These aerial perspectives, paired with the 3D cable cam shots, provided a comprehensive view of the thrilling finals, encapsulating the essence of rugby’s grandeur and the electrifying atmosphere of the Stade de France.
