Elemental To Demo HEVC Video Processing
Elemental Technologies (Booth SU2724) has issued an industry-wide High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) challenge. The Elemental HEVC Throwdown will kick off on Monday and continue at other industry events. Elemental will demonstrate real-time HEVC encoding and challenges other video-processing vendors to do the same.
Elemental invites attendees to bring source files of any kind on USB drives to its booth; alternatively, booth visitors can borrow Elemental content. The challenge will demonstrate real-time Elemental H.265 encoding of the content and streaming delivery of 500K output to a tablet device and 1080p output to HD television. Participants are encouraged to visit other video-processing companies at the show to request the same demonstration of capabilities.
The computational intensity of HEVC encoding lends itself to the performance advantage of Elemental video processing. Elemental develops video codecs from open specifications to full implementation using general-purpose programmable architectures (GPUs and CPUs). Its video-processing software delivers H.265 content at very low video bitrates to a wide variety of viewing devices, expanding delivery of high-quality, high-resolution video over bandwidth-constrained networks.
In addition to real-time H.265 encoding, Elemental will offer a side-by-side demonstration of H.265 and H.264 encoding at NAB that highlights the quality improvements attainable with HEVC.
