EMG becomes first OB specialist to achieve DPP Committed to Sustainability mark
EMG has become the first OB specialist to achieve the DPP Committed to Sustainability mark.
The DPP Committed to Sustainability programme celebrates and promotes good practice in environmental sustainability across the media industry. It requires organisations to assess their status and progress against key environmental measures while demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.
EMG has made significant investments in infrastructure to support more sustainable live productions, with a focus on remote production workflows as well as tracking power and energy efficiency in its vehicles and equipment. With the formation of a group-wide committee focused on boosting the group’s sustainability awareness and practices, EMG is also assessing the efficiency of all its sites as well as possibilities such as battery power and cloud-based systems.
“We are proud of the changes we have made, and will continue to make, to better support sustainable production. Our new fleet, which is currently being built, has sustainability at the heart of its design, and we will continue to use HVO Green D+ fuel in our OB trucks – a change which has already saved 300 tonnes of emissions in one year. All these practices support our ongoing efforts to reach a net zero target,” said Rohan Mitchell, group ESG director, EMG. “While there is a long way to go for the industry, it is encouraging to see much more engagement with the sustainability conversation and the DPP Committed to Sustainability programme brings an important focus to this key issue.”
Abdul Hakim, manager, Committed to Sustainability Programme and business development, DPP, said: “We congratulate EMG on qualifying for the DPP Committed to Sustainability mark and look forward to seeing how their sustainability efforts develop over the coming years and help move the industry towards greener practices.”
