Evertz integrates RIST to transport live video over unmanaged networks

Evertz has announced the integration of Reliable Internet Stream Transport (RIST), currently under Video Services Forum’s Technical recommendation TR06, to its portfolio of file-based products including both Mediator-X and Overture Playout.

Mediator-X is Evertz’l unified file-based operations platform for Content Supply Chain and Playout Automation Solutions, while Overture Playout is Evertz’ feature rich linear playout solution used across the globe by industry leading media enterprises. RIST (VSF TR06) is an interoperable standard for transporting live video over unmanaged networks, developed jointly by a large group of experts, who poured hundreds of years of real-world experience into the specifications, and built on top of existing RFC standards.

The integration of the technology into the Overture products enables Overture to transmit and receive reliable video transport streams across unmanaged networks, and moves our existing successful deployments to an interoperable standard that is supported throughout the industry. The Overture platform with RIST includes support for high bit rate mezzanine level bit rates up 150+ Mb/s, which enables the Overture platform to be used for a wide range of broadcast applications.

“The integration and deployment of RIST (VSF TR06) within the Mediator and Overture platforms is yet another important step for the industry as we transition to IP and cloud based playout solutions, and reaffirms Evertz’ commitment to interoperable standards,” said Martin Whittaker, technical product manager at Evertz.
