Premier Sports snaps up LaLiga rights
Premier Sports has secured rights to show Spain’s LaLiga in the UK and will air four games per round across its Premier Sports 1 and 2 channels.
The broadcaster will also show the weekly magazine programmes LaLiga World and the LaLiga Show, as well as a weekly highlights show.
The OTT streaming service Eleven Sports also has rights to show LaLiga but, following the Premier Sports deal, no longer has exclusivity.
Melcior Soler, Audiovisual Department director at LaLiga said: “Thanks to this agreement the best league in the world can be enjoyed across multiple broadcast platforms in the UK & Ireland. We are only days away until Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona meet in El Clásico and Premier Sports viewers will have one of the best seats in the house for the most anticipated fixture in world football.”
Richard Sweeney, CEO of Premier Sports added: “This addition makes Premier Sports a ‘must have’ channel for football fans and underpins our drive to bring even more exceptional value to our customers as we continue to build our brand.”
Premier Sports’ portfolio also includes Italian Serie A, Dutch Eredivisie and the Chinese Super League.
The Premier Sports 1 and 2 channels are available on Sky, Virgin and the Premier Player online.
