Robycam Global expands into South Korea

Movicom, international developer and manufacturer of specialty camera systems for the broadcast industry, has signed an agreement with Dong Hwa A.V. Co in partnership with Content Oceans to be the exclusive official representative for Robycam products in South Korea.

The agreement goes into effect immediately, with Dong Hwa holding its own Robycam system.

“We’ve worked together for several years, and done some great projects with Dong Hwa,” said Victor Pakhomov, CEO of Movicom. “Now everyone felt like it was time to take our cooperation to the next level.”

A team of riggers and crew from South Korea recently spent 10 days in Moscow at Movicom headquarters, getting trained and qualified on the Robycam equipment before the gear was shipped out to Dong Hwa.

“Safety is of prime importance, but we also want to make sure we can provide all of our representatives with a head start in technical knowledge and experience,” said Pakhomov, “that’s why we bring our partners in to meet our team and train them properly on the equipment, before it goes out.”

After an intensive training period where all aspects of the technical and even some creative aspects of using the equipment are covered, there is a test.  The trainees are required to show competency in rigging and operating the Robycam system. Only then do the trainees get certified and registered into the Robycam global supervisor registry. Movicom’s commitment to safety insures that only trained, certified, and registered operators can use the Robycam system, which is fingerprint protected to lock out untrained operators. Movicom also provides veteran supervisors for the first few projects to advise the newly registered crew, just as a precaution that only the highest level of service is offered to their global clients. The Dong Hwa crew passed its Robycam tests with flying colors and is now ready to take on the challenges of operating on its own.

Dong Hwa is excited to bring Movicom’s Compass augmented reality (AR) technology along with the Robycam system to the Korean market. The Compass AR tracking technology allows simple and easy integration of the Robycam aerial cable camera system into all existing virtual graphics systems like Pixotope and the Unreal Graphics Engine, both of which Dong Hwa and Content Oceans have used on previous projects.

The AR graphics capability is a key feature of the Robycam system and is a growing trend industry wide around the globe. Movicom continues to develop and improve the system to stay at the cutting edge, and help its partners compete globally in that sector.
