Sensio partners with CGR Cinémas in time for Six Nations finale

France: Montreal-based Sensio Technologies is partnering with CGR Cinémas to add its network of 34 multiplexes to the expanding Sensio 3D Live Network, thus taking its screen-base to 750. The first 3D event the new screens will show is the finale of the RBS Six Nations and the match between France and Wales live from the Stade de France in Paris.

“CGR Cinémas is a forerunner in digital cinema in France and recognizes the opportunity that live 3D events represent,” said Jocelyn Bouyssy, chief executive officer of Circuit George Raymond (CGR Cinémas). “By partnering with the leader in this sector, the pioneer in live 3D and creator of the high-fidelity format Sensio Hi-Fi 3D, we can ensure we will stay in the lead pack of this new form of entertainment.”

Previous high-profile events carried over the Sensio 3D Live Network high-profile events include the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2011 NBA All-Star weekend. Rugby was one of the first modern sports to get the stereo 3D treatment and, though the chances of Wales winning the championship are slim and rely on England slipping up against the Irish in Dublin, its a popular choice for public screenings.

“This further expansion of our network, and this additional event of the final 2011 RBS 6 Nations France versus Wales rugby match, proves that there is a real and growing interest in live 3D events in cinemas,” commented Richard LaBerge, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Sensio. “We’re very proud that thousands of rugby supporters in the most fanatic regions of France will be able to experience the match as if they were on the sidelines, thanks to our technology.”
