Access Co. addresses digital security with ViewRight

Access Co. has launched its ‘studio confident’ media sharing solution in partnership with Verimatrix, the specialist in securing an enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services around the globe.

This solution features the integration of Verimatrix ViewRight security with the ACCESS NetFront Living Connect DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) Technology Component.

ViewRight is a component of the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) architecture, which addresses the new video marketplace with a proactive revenue security and enhancement approach for DVB broadcast, hybrid, and IPTV networks. The Verimatrix ViewRight client family is a robust package of portable security applications that provide enhanced security for HLS service delivery, including authentication and fine grain entitlement management for a variety of device categories, including PC/Macs, mobile handsets, tablets, set-top boxes and connected TVs.

“Digital TV could not have taken-off without strong security and the same applies to media sharing, which is why we have worked with Verimatrix to integrate its Viewright security with our NetFront Living Connect media sharing solution,” said Dr. Neale Foster, VP of Global Sales IA, ACCESS. “The ACCESS and Verimatrix studio confident media sharing solution enables the content industry to make movies, music and TV sharable between connected devices, freeing media consumption and enabling exciting new business models.”

This collaborative solution ensures that studios and other content owners can now be confident that their most valuable content, such as early release HD movies, can be securely shared between devices while ensuring that content usage constraints and privileges are adhered to. By 2014 it is predicted that US households will have on average 24 connected devices. Multiscreen will become even more exciting for the broadcast industry when these devices are all connected and sharing content.

“Consumers are getting a real buzz from sharing user generated content between devices. Now thanks to the ACCESS and Verimatrix collaboration, they can have the same exciting experience with the most commercially valuable content,” said Petr Peterka, CTO, Verimatrix. “We believe that media sharing is a key enabler of the multi-screen future that the entire broadcast space is rushing towards. It reduces an operator’s need to invest in costly set-top boxes, reduces churn, creates stickiness and enhances revenue security. None of which can happen without developments such as the ACCESS studio confident media sharing solution,” concluded Peterka.
