ATP Media launches new ATP World Tour Archive

ATP Media, the broadcast arm of the ATP World Tour, has announced the launch of the ATP World Tour Archive. Now available to further enhance and promote the live programme offering of ATP Media’s broadcast partners, the comprehensive and unique portfolio of tennis archive footage is also accessible on a use-by-use basis to independent production companies and sponsors.

Setting the benchmark for global sports broadcast, ATP Media provides centralised exploitation, production and global delivery from 23 ATP World Tour events. The digital archive, which has undergone a series of technical and operational developments, is one of a number of innovations being offered to broadcasters to evolve ATP World Tour coverage worldwide.

Functionality such as a new ‘fuel gauge’ style credit system allows broadcasters to use a select amount of archive footage for free, while clearly seeing how much credit remains. An improved design makes the digital archive mobile responsive, with an easy-to-use grid layout for search results forming part of the enhancements.

The upgraded new platform now makes available over 1,100 matches and 2,500 hours of match content – including all available semi-finals and finals from the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Series, round robin matches from the season ending ATP Finals, and other significant matches from the past 27 years. Recently added matches from the 1990s include such tennis legends as Bjorn Borg, Boris Becker, Stefan Edberg, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi.

Providing a more streamlined experience, all matches are fully logged enabling users to search by shot or sponsor. Historical tournament draws with match results are also available to help understand the path a player took to get to a particular Final.

Registered users are also offered a unique offline editing feature. Low resolution MP4 downloads of full assets (with BITC and a watermark) can be accessed to allow rough editing before users are charged for the content that they know they want to licence. Improvements to the service also mean that rapid clip downloads are now available in three formats (original format high resolution, web optimised and ProRes).

In addition to offering footage from some of the most famous matches in the history of tennis, the ATP World Tour Archive also includes non-match action – including ENG ISO, practice sessions and player interviews. Supporting footage can also be accessed in the form of city scenics from ATP World Tour locations, such as Monte Carlo’s Casino Square and Rome’s Colosseum, as well as tournament scenics, features, ISO melts and ATP Media’s signature end of set and match rollouts.
