Aurora hires Tom Crump from Sky Sports as new development director

Tom Crump has joined Aurora in the newly created post of development director

Aurora Media Worldwide, part of All3Media, has appointed experienced sports media leader Tom Crump to the newly created post of development director.

Crump will focus on further enhancing Aurora’s offering to sports federations, brands and broadcasters looking to develop innovative formats and compelling multi-platform content for fans.

He joins from Sky Sports where he spent 12 years working as a producer across a wide variety of sports including cricket, NFL and rugby, as well as time with Sports News.

In cricket Crump has worked with every major property in the game across the entirety of Sky’s Cricket portfolio, including six Ashes series, 10 World Events and overseeing the launch of The Hundred, where he played an integral part in the successful development of the brand new, award-winning disruptive format.

Crump will be responsible for driving new business for Aurora, as well as supporting development with existing clients. With his extensive expertise in sports media, he will further enhance Aurora’s strong track record in the development and production of live, premium global sports and entertainment events, helping clients create original and compelling programming.

Aurora’s international clients include progressive rights owners such as Formula E, Extreme E, Sail GP , Super League Triathlon and Nitrocross; broadcasters and streaming platforms including Discovery, Fox Sports, ITV; and brands such as Jaguar, Nissan and Allianz.

Crump starts immediately, reporting to Aurora’s chief strategy officer, Barry Flanigan, who said: “Tom has an impressive track record of creating innovative, groundbreaking formats for some of the most exciting sports rights owners and brands in the industry. His expertise in developing high-quality bespoke content and impactful fan engagement strategies is an excellent fit with Aurora’s strength in producing pioneering, original content.
