AWS renews Gold SVG Europe sponsorship

AWS has returned as a Gold sponsor of SVG Europe.

As the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud, AWS offers over 200 fully featured services from data centres globally.

Customers include Epic Games, Fox, Formula 1 and ITN. The latter began transitioning on-premises workflows into the cloud with the help of AWS technologies in 2022 and more recently moved its on-premises folder and file systems, traditionally used to trigger media processing pipelines, to Amazon S3.

In 2023, the European League of Football utilised AWS when it moved to cloud live production in just three weeks, while Globecast developed and launched the first video public cloud video headend, powered by AWS, for a major European telco.

Recent technology innovations include the launch of AWS Elemental MediaConnect Gateway, a cloud-connected software application to transmit live video between on-premises multicast networks and AWS, and being part of a multi-vendor proof of concept demonstrating how next-generation hybrid cloud technologies are pushing the boundaries of traditional live broadcast workflows.

The purpose of the demonstration was to showcase the ease with which valuable live video can be contributed via the AWS cloud and transformed using progressive new cloud technologies. In addition to showing secure receipt and control of the live video streams, the workflow was augmented through a range of transformations including remotely switching from one source transport stream to another transport stream for B2B distribution, the addition and control of live graphics, live commentary, and the transformation to B2C streams and delivery to an AWS CloudFront for its onward journey to viewers and sports fans worldwide.
