Channel 4 and the BBC join Sport Tech UK 2012

SVG Europe is delighted to announce that speakers from Channel 4 and the BBC have joined the line up at SVG Europe’s Sport Tech UK 2012: Summer of Sport Summit that is due to take place at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on Thursday 29th March.Deborah Poulton, Sports Editor, Paralympics at Channel 4 and Ben Gallop, Head of BBC Sport Interactive will join panellists already confirmed from Sky Sports, ESPN, London 2012, Input Media, the All England Lawn Tennis Club, CTV, the Press Association, PERFORM and Quicken Media. Other exciting speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

These key broadcasters, facilities companies and sports properties will gather together to discuss topics of importance to the UK sports production industry on several illuminating panels

Channel 4’s Deborah Poulton will join the ‘Producing The Iconic Events of the Summer of 2012’ panel where the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will go under the spotlight alongside the Wimbledon Tennis Championships and the British Open in golf.

As Project Leader of Channel 4’s London 2012 Paralympic coverage, Deborah is responsible for managing the channel’s external relationships with key stakeholders as well as creating a bold and distinctive editorial strategy for its Games coverage and the pre-Games build up. Deborah has been at Channel 4 since 1998 in a number of guises. Between 1999 and 2005 she was Deputy Editor of Sport, working on the Channel’s multi-award winning Test Cricket and Horse Racing coverage. She was also responsible for commissioning, acquiring, and licensing over 400 hours of sport content per year between 1999 and 2007, including World Superbikes, Poker, and British Triathlon. She has always championed niche sports coverage, regional independents and new talent.

Meanwhile, the BBC’s Ben Gallop will join speakers from London 2012, the Press Association and PERFORM on the final panel, ‘Producing a Digital Olympics’, which will look at how all the channels and screens available will be used to maximise coverage and engage with fans.

Ben leads the department which looks after BBC Sport’s new media services. He has responsibility for bbc.co.uk/sport – which is the largest sports website in the UK, with an average weekly audience of around 12m unique users – as well as BBC Sport’s ever-popular interactive TV and mobile services. In addition to his new media role, Ben also heads up the BBC’s Formula 1 operation across all platforms plus is responsible for the BBC’s Digital Olympics project, which will help scope the broadcaster’s editorial and technological strategy for London 2012.
