Competitive media rights sales process in Netherlands results in new ‘home of men’s European club football’

Following a competitive media rights sales process in the Netherlands, Ziggo Sport has acquired the exclusive media rights for all 2024-27 UEFA club competitions (UCC) – the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Youth League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League, Team Marketing has revealed.

The strong results in the Netherlands follow a series of successful 2024-27 UCC media rights sales processes across the UK, France and the Balkans.

Long-term UEFA partner Ziggo Sport has been successful in expanding the scope of its rights to include all UEFA club competitions – meaning viewers in the Netherlands will now have a single destination to watch all matches and highlights. A comprehensive range of matches (including matches from the knock-out stages) will be broadcast on Ziggo’s basic-tier channel, Ziggo Sport, while matches featuring the Dutch teams and the finals will also be made available for free across Ziggo’s digital platforms.

Iain Downie, managing director of Team, said: “It’s great to see a long-standing UEFA partner move all UCC rights under one roof; this is an approach that has worked well for other partners around the world and we hope it will be beneficial for both Ziggo Sport and viewers in the Netherlands.”

Simon Crouch, CEO of Team, said: “With more bids received than ever, it’s clear broadcasters believe in the impact of the UEFA club competitions and the added value in the new 2024-27 format. The long-term relationships and the hard work of the team continue to deliver outstanding results for UEFA and the ECA.”

Team has provided support to UEFA in the global marketing and sale of UEFA club competition commercial rights (including media, sponsorship and licensing rights) and the provision of account management and associated services since 1992.
