FutureSPORT 2022: Women’s sport on TV and media connectivity challenges complete packed conference programme

Coverage of women’s sport on TV and solving the live broadcast sector’s connectivity problems are both among the subjects that will be discussed at SVG Europe’s FutureSPORT event in London on Tuesday 15 November.

Sponsored by Panasonic Connect and being held at Lord’s Cricket Ground, FutureSPORT is a forward-looking conference that will cover a range of subjects, including the metaverse, creating content for mobile, AI, MAM and more.

The hot topic of Women’s Sport on TV will be explored in depth. Steph Harries, the Managing Director of the Women’s Sports Group, is among the speakers for that session. She will be joined by Helena Sykes, Sunset+Vine’s Head of Content, Georgina Green, Broadcast & Production Manager at All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and Sharon Fuller, Founder, Rational Collective.

Another key session will look at the future of media connectivity, with telecoms firms and media companies coming together to try to solve some of the big contribution and distribution challenges. This will feature Marco Dias Silva, Vodafone Group, 5G & Edge Computing Expert, Thomas Hainzel, Nokia, Head of Digital Industries Evolution & Partnerships and Ian Wagdin, BBC R&D, Senior Technology Transfer Manager.

Sessions kick off at 1pm, with IABM Head of Knowledge Lorenzo Zanni setting the scene with a presentation outlining the changing face of sports media consumption.

This will be followed by a keynote interview with TikTok strategic partner manager for sport Sanjit Sarkar and a panel session on Creating Sports Content for Mobile. Speakers here include Robbie Spargo, Little Dot Sport, Director; Mike Norrish, Director of Digital & Creative, Premier League Productions; and Scott Miles, Sky Sports, Senior Content Operations Manager. Fuller from Rational Collective will also join this panel.

The conference will end with an exploration of the sporting metaverse. Here, Lewis Wiltshire, Seven League, CEO, and Matt Stagg, BT Sport, Director of Mobile & Immersive Strategy, will share what they have done so far, what they have learnt, and what happens next.

In addition to the line-up of high-level speakers there will also be a stadium tour, exhibits and plenty of networking opportunities.
