Genelec renews Gold SVG Europe sponsorship

Finnish audio equipment manufacturer Genelec has returned as a Gold sponsor of SVG Europe.

“Genelec has been a proud SVG Europe sponsor for some years now,” said Howard Jones, PR director at the company. “We value greatly the opportunity that SVG Europe gives us to speak directly to the sports broadcasting community, and it’s a unique forum to learn more about the technology our customers need to thrive in the fast-moving world of broadcast. Since we’re a company that’s wholly focused on providing solutions to the challenges that our customers face, SVG is a fantastic resource.”

The company’s products are a common site in OB trucks across Europe, with ABC Television and Soundon just two of the organisations that have recently invested in Genelec monitoring systems for their latest vehicles.

“Specifically, our monitoring solutions deliver truthful, neutral sound reproduction – enabling audio professionals to make fast, accurate and reliable mix decisions, even in challenging spaces such as OB trucks,” he added. “Trusted by broadcasters for their uncoloured performance and bulletproof reliability, every Genelec monitoring system is designed to adapt to the room’s acoustic environment – allowing the user to deliver mixes that translate consistently; however the content is being distributed and consumed. And with the increasing adoption of more complex immersive audio formats, SVG Europe has proved a valuable forum in which to discuss the challenges and opportunities that immersive audio is bringing to sports broadcasting.”

The past 12 months have also seen a number of technology innovations for the company. “At last September’s IBC exhibition we launched the 9320A Reference Controller, which sits at the heart of our Unio monitoring platform,” said Jones. “With flexible connectivity, a reference grade headphone output and tactile control of Genelec Smart Active Monitors, GLM calibration software and Aural ID personal HRTF technology, the 9320A allows users to switch seamlessly between in-room loudspeakers and professional headphones with no interruption in workflow. For sports broadcasters working fast, under pressure and often in less-than-ideal acoustic spaces, we believe that Unio and the 9320A represent a major step forward in reliable monitoring.”
