I-MOVIX in continuous Olympic slo-mo frame

It looks like the I-MOVIX X10 has been chosen by OBS for Olympic duty next year (judging by the press release talking about it’s selection for “2012’s most prestigious sporting event”). Certainly all the major competing ultra slo-mo systems were out at a test in Madrid recently, so the announcement a) makes sense and b) will impressively mark the production debut of the X10.

Developed in partnership with EVS, the X10 delivers 300-fps realtime continuous streaming in 1080i for an “always on” ultra-slow motion view of the action. This gives production teams the ability to use it as a conventional HD camera, and the company says it provides a consistent and familiar user interface and controls that any broadcast crew can use immediately, without specialist training. Each X10 system is used with an EVS XT3 live production server and “smashes the performance ceiling of existing continuous slow motion systems, which are restricted to 3x slower than real time, or 75 fps.”
