Join SVG Europe Women at IBC for the first screening of the exclusive Behind the Lens educational video series

The new and exclusive Behind the Lens video series will launch with its first full screening at the SVG Europe Women IBC networking event on Saturday 16 September.

Behind the Lens is a series of short, high production value, entertaining videos that have been designed by SVG Europe Women working with Aurora, NEP and QTV to engage and educate young people on jobs in sports broadcasting.

Taking place in the First Floor Restaurant at the Rai, SVG Europe Women is hosting its annual IBC networking event from 4.30pm on Saturday 16 September. At 5pm we will hear from SVG Europe Women supporter sponsor, EMG, with Judith Franssen, EMG sales and project manager speaking.

This will be followed by a conversation with two of the companies involved in the making of the Behind the Lens series with Lucy Lake, QTV director of people and purpose, and Helen Jeffrey, NEP Connect international sales director, discussing with director and producer of the series, SVG Europe Women head and SVG Europe editor, Heather McLean, what it is all about and why it is important.

Ria Perez, production assistant, is one of the women and men to feature in the Behind the Lens educational video series from SVG Europe Women

Attendees will then be able to view the screening of the full cut of Behind the Lens, while mingling with colleagues over a drink.

Lake commented on the project: “It’s been brilliant to be part of making the Behind the Lens video series. I was so happy when Heather came to me with this idea of hers. Time and time again we are told by young people that they don’t know what jobs are available in the sports broadcasting industry, at a time where we are incredibly hard-pushed to find crew.

“This video series from SVG Europe Women is giving the industry, educational establishments and young people a great opportunity to share some of the key roles that are up for grabs in this amazing, exciting industry.”

The aim of the development of Behind the Lens has been to create a centralised, independent resource for the sports broadcasting industry, educators and individuals alike. Behind the Lens is a free resource for students, schools, colleges and universities, as well as broadcasters and OB firms in sports broadcasting.

It consists of nine short explainer interviews with people in key roles in live sports, from OB engineer, replay operator, and camera operator, to director, producer and runner. Each one can be viewed individually or in a special full length cut of them all.
