Levira to produce the Latvia Group phase of EuroBasket 2015

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has appointed AS Levira, an outside broadcast service provider in the Baltics, to be its production partner for the Latvia Group Phase of EuroBasket 2015. Levira will produce and distribute the International Feed of each Group Phase game from Riga.

FIBA EuroBasket 2015 will be the 39th edition of the EuroBasket championship. The competition will involve 24 teams, including Estonia. In 2011 FIBA Europe selected Ukraine to host the event but due to the current situation in the country, it decided to relocate EuroBasket 2015 to Croatia, France, Germany and Latvia. The Championship will take place from 5th-20th September with the Group Phases being held in Berlin, Montpellier, Riga and Zagreb, with the Final Phase to follow in Lille.

Levira has extensive experience of producing basketball games. It was responsible for the production of all 94 games at EuroBasket 2011 in Lithuania and last year it signed a long-term three-season cooperation agreement with the Estonian Basketball Federation to produce all of the Alexela Basketball Premier League games in Estonia. In addition, Levira is also a regular production partner for the Baltic Basketball League games.

“We are very proud to see that Levira’s experience in sports broadcasts and its uncompromised service quality is also well recognised outside of Estonia, and we are being trusted with such an important task,” said Indrek Lepp, Director of Media Services Division.

“Levira is constantly developing its personnel and production facilities in order to maintain the high quality and extensive range of our services and to compete in a very competitive market-place.,” added Kulno Kägu, Head of TV Production at Levira.

FIBA commented that: “We are very pleased to have Levira as part of the EuroBasket 2015 Host Broadcast solution and are confident that they will provide the required quality service for the premier European basketball championship.”
