Mediapro acquires UEFA rights for France and plans new 24/7 channel

Mediapro has made a fresh move in France with the acquisition of the principal rights package to the UEFA Europa League and the new UEFA competition, Europa Conference League, for the seasons 2021-2022, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. A new themed channel will offer all the matches from the two European competitions (except first choice) amounting to a total of over 260 matches per season.

The new format of the UEFA Europa League and the upcoming Europa Conference League will get underway in the 2021-2022 season with new time slots for Thursdays and matches to be played at 4:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., thereby increasing the range of options available to viewers. The two competitions could host up to a maximum of six French teams.

This acquisition permits the incorporation of premium content to the offer for the new channel which is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2020, with 24/7 programming schedule dedicated to football and live broadcast of nine Ligue 1 games and eight Ligue 2 matches, as well as news, debate and analysis programs and in-depth reports. The channel aspires to become a benchmark for national and international football for all fans in France.
