Miranda solutions to make Euro debut
Miranda Technologies, a global provider of integrated solutions for production, playout, and delivery systems for television broadcasters and multi-system operators, announced several key solutions will make their European debut. Key advancements include Intelligent Audio Loudness Correction (ALC) end-to-end loudness monitoring, logging and correction; the new NVISION 8140 compact, enterprise-class router; Kaleido IP X100 IP multiviewer; and LUMO, Miranda’s new high-density fiber converter series.
Intelligent Automatic Loudness Correction (ALC)
Miranda’s end-to-end loudness solution includes monitoring, logging, and correction using real-time processing during the playout workflow. Intelligent ALC uses information fed from a broadcaster’s traffic system to identify whether content has been corrected already and dynamically avoids processing content that has already been through loudness correction.
The end-to-end solution utilizes segment-aware loudness monitoring and logging, which has been added to Miranda’s Kaleido series multiviewers and is used in conjunction with Miranda’s iControl system, can log the average loudness per segment, enabling easy creation of detailed reports at a later date to meet compliance and reporting regulations.
NVISION 8140 (NV8140) 8RU Enterprise Class Router
The NVISION 8140 provides the features of an enterprise class router in a 144 x 288 matrix contained in 8RU, and is intended for mobile production suites and smaller studios. Part of the NVISION 8500 Enterprise Class router series, the compact NV8140 includes features typically found in larger routers — redundant power supplies, control cards, and crosspoints.
LUMO High-Density Fiber Converter
Miranda’s LUMO, the electrical-to-optical and optical-to-electrical converter, will also be seen. LUMO packs 36 I/Os into a 1RU frame and its modular design enables each converter to be serviced while the unit remains in operation. The unit also includes dual redundant power supplies and frame controller with dual redundant IP-connections for system monitoring and frame health alarming. LUMO uses the same SMPTE-compliant fiber SFP modules that are found on all 3Gbps products in Miranda’s portfolio. The platform’s cable management approach addresses connectivity concerns by providing fiber connectivity on one side of the unit with coax on the other, providing for easy separation of heavy copper cable from lightweight fiber.
Kaleido IP X100 IP Multiviewer
An extension of Miranda’s Kaleido-IP advanced IP-based multiviewer platform, Kaleido-IP X100 is specifically engineered as a cost-effective solution for smaller applications. Housed in a 1RU chassis, this multiviewer can handle monitoring of up to 24 SD or 8 HD video programs. For subscriber delivery applications, Kaleido-IP, when combined with Miranda’s iControl Headend monitoring solution, provides remote signal visualization and probing capabilities.
For broadcast playout applications, the Kaleido-IP platform can monitor a growing number of compressed sources by providing content probing and visualization capabilities that are fully integrated with alarm logging and workflow management systems. In combination with Kaleido-X and iControl Playout Manager, Kaleido-IP examines multiple, compressed encoder, and multiplexer output sources while also providing downlink monitoring capabilities.
