Mobile Viewpoint reflects on Transfer Deadline Day and other recent sports broadcasting successes

In the wake of the announcement confirming that it has joined SVG Europe as a Gold Sponsor, Mobile Viewpoint took the opportunity to reflect on a number of recent projects that have underlined its strong and growing presence in European sports broadcasting, including contributionsto coverage of the Voor de Ronde and Red Bull Wings for Life World Run.

Voor de Ronde

In March 2017, Mobile Viewpoint’s broadcast contribution solutions enabled major Belgian broadcaster VRT to deliver a revolutionary and ambitious live broadcast of the Voor de Ronde, the pre-tour event for the Ronde Van Vlaanderen. As part of VRT’s ‘Slow TV’ project, the 12-hour broadcast followed Belgian journalist Ruben Van Gucht as he cycled the entire 260-kilometre route, with four different cameras tracking his every move and live broadcasting the action on national television over publicly available 3G and 4G network connections.

Transfer Deadline Day – Sky Sports

In another recent development, Mobile Viewpoint has been enabling Sky Sports News to deliver cutting-edge reporting and analysis first by having reporters on the ground, ready to break stories as soon as they happened.

A selection of Mobile Viewpoint’s products were used by Sky Sports News on Transfer Deadline Day, which allowed reporters to broadcast live from each of the 20 Premier League clubs across the country.

With the Sky Sports News channels in Italy and Germany also using Mobile Viewpoint technology, the three channels were able to share content between countries seamlessly and simultaneously.

The success of the February Transfer Deadline Day broadcast signals another year of a successful working relationship between Mobile Viewpoint and Sky Sports News. The two companies started working together in the summer of 2013, after Sky Sports News sought an electronic news gathering (ENG) solution that was agile and didn’t require the use of satellite news gathering (SNG) trucks. Since then the companies have worked closely on the successful delivery of several transfer deadline days.

Red Bull Wings of Life World Run, Dubai UAE

The Red Bull Wings for Life World Run in Dubai, UAE was covered live for Red Bull TV with no less than seven Mobile Viewpoint encoders, with one located in one of the de Catcher Cars – the special vehicles with sensors following the runners to the finish line.
