Ncam renews its Gold sponsorship of SVG Europe

Ncam has returned as a Gold sponsor of SVG Europe. The company provides a unique multi-sensor camera tracking system for all XR and VP scenarios, including studios and outdoor environments, such as stadiums and racetracks. Ncam is compatible with all professional cameras and lenses – track handheld, Steadicam, cranes, a dolly or on a gimbal.

“This is the most flexible tracking system in the world,” said Andy Newham, director of sales EMEA at Ncam Technologies. “We have a great product that we feel is a perfect fit for virtual production in sports. SVG Europe events have a global reach bringing together the sports broadcast community from Europe and further afield. It fosters a strongly connected community of leagues, owners, content creators, federations and more, providing a means of exchanging ideas and encouraging innovation. It also provides an invaluable knowledge resource for the sports broadcast community. Therefore when the time came to renew our sponsorship with SVG Europe, the decision was an easy one. We at Ncam are very proud to be a part of a special family within SVG and to continue the conversation on how to innovate with our technology within sports production.”

Speaking about developments in the industry, Newham added: “Virtual production, extended reality and augmented reality effects are nothing new in live sports. As an industry we have been doing this for many years. However, more recently, Unreal Engine changes the game and will continue to change it for the foreseeable future in sports graphics. Once you take a high-quality background screen volume and apply Unreal Engine effects into it that allows the camera to enter ‘into’ the picture in real-time, then you really do have the ability to create whole new worlds within your production. The background effects that Unreal Engine can now create are so realistic that it is getting harder and harder to tell what scenes are ‘real’ and what scenes are ‘Unreal’ in a virtual production. Most of us are familiar with this concept in the world of cinema, but recent studies suggest that the two market verticals of broadcast and cinema are merging ever closer and this is particularly true in the world of sports, with content creators always looking for new ways to present sports and make their content more engaging for their viewers. The impact of virtual production will only increase and its effects only become more realistic as the technology continues to evolve.”
