Dolby has renewed its Platinum Sponsorship with SVG Europe once again, citing the association’s ability to bring “real value to the sports broadcast market” as a key reason for its continued support.

Dolby’s Rob France discusses the new Dolby AC-4 format at a recent SVG Europe event

Rob France, Dolby senior product marketing manager, said: “At Dolby, we’re always looking for ways to make entertainment more spectacular, and sports broadcast is an exciting area where we are able to make a huge difference.

“As we deploy technologies such as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos it is important we get feedback on how these align with general industry trends and ensure they are delivering benefits to consumers and the industry,” France noted.

“We have once again renewed our sponsorship of SVG Europe because the association brings real value to the sports broadcast market. Through their range of great events, we learn more about the industry trends and network with many of those who define where the industry is heading in collaboration with SVG Europe, including the SVG Europe Audio Summits we have worked together to develop and share our expertise with this industry. We also benefit from the editorial content the team produces that keeps us in touch with the latest stories. We look forward to yet another year of working with SVG Europe.”

Over Christmas, the World Darts Championship 2019 held at Alexandra Palace, London, marked the first time Sky Sports used Dolby Atmos for darts coverage. Dolby worked alongside Sky Sports and CTV OB to enable the team to work out the best immersive sound experience to use for the quarter and semi-finals and overall finals.
