PLAZAMEDIA supplies tech, crew for ZDF ski-jumping coverage

The weekend just passed (8-9 December) saw PLAZAMEDIA – a broadcasting services provider and part of Constantin Medien AG – supply production technology for ZDF’s coverage of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in Sochi, Russia. The project is one of five world cup winter sports events that PLAZAMEDIA is working on for the German public service broadcaster.

In addition to the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup, PLAZAMEDIA will be providing production services for: the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup (various disciplines), the 1st Viessmann FIBT Bob & Skeleton World Cup (country skiing and bobsleigh), the 9th Viessmann FIL World Cup (luge) and E.ON IBU World Cup 8 (biathlon). All these events will take place between January and March 2013.

There is a history of cooperation between the two organisations, with ZDF commissioning PLAZAMEDIA earlier this summer to provide production services for its host broadcasting of the Wednesday matches from the UEFA Champions League in Germany, as well as production technology for the unilateral ZDF productions at home and abroad.

The assignment with ZDF includes production services for its unilateral broadcasts of the winter sports events in HD and Dolby 5.1. PLAZAMEDIA will provide the complete broadcast technology required for production, including OB unit, edit suites and production crew.
