Quidich continues the story with Gold SVG Europe sponsor renewal

Technology innovator Quidich has renewed its Gold sponsorship of SVG Europe.

Cricket is just one of the sports to have benefitted from Quidich technology, which aims to enhance the storytelling of a production.

Quidich Hyperview player tracking technology was used by Sky Sports in 2023 during its coverage of England vs Australia in cricket’s Ashes series. Hyperview shots were captured from floodlight pylons around the grounds in order to track fielder movements, offering insight into options for batters and bowlers based on field placements. Hyperview was also a feature of the ICC World Test Championship.

The technology behind Hyperview is Quidich Tracker (QT), which accurately tracks player positions, speeds and movement trajectories in real-time using advanced AI and ML algorithms. Hyperview processes data from QT along with various other tracking algorithms to create stories for fielding placements and strategies. The technology showcases fielding in a 360 degree view of the cricket field in a virtual environment built to depict a digital 3D twin of any stadium across the world.

In addition, the Indian Premier League (IPL) turned to StiQy from Quidich to enhance the way information is relayed to viewers and commentators. Graphics solution Stiqy can detect a player on camera and attach a graphic to them as they move across the frame. The information it portrays can be classified under three main categories – historical player or match data, live player or match data and field positions with player names. As Stiqy does not need any specialised camera equipment and can easily adapt to existing broadcast flows, IPL broadcasters didn’t have to invest in new equipment or train their teams to implement the technology.
