Rt1.tv upgrades its OB fleet with Qvest

Germany’s rt1.tv has taken delivery of two modernised OB vans as a result of a collaboration with Qvest. The live production vehicles, based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, have been equipped with new hardware and feature a customised room concept with six workstations. The high-performance SNG units are used by rt1.tv throughout Germany for broadcasts of the 3. Liga football league.

With the two vehicles modernised by Qvest, rt1.tv has more performance and flexibility for live operations. The Qvest team was responsible for the entire planning, installation and commissioning of the media technology. In close co-operation with Dutch bodywork specialist Carrosserie Akkermans, Qvest equipped the two Mercedes Benz Sprinters with box bodies with state-of-the-art broadcasting technology.

In addition to six Grass Valley LDX92 cameras, the equipment includes audio mixing systems from Stagetec as well as fibre-based stage boxes and the Artist intercom system from Riedel. In addition, a new EVS system including X-File and state-of-the-art VIA controllers were integrated. Central control is provided by an EVS Cerebrum broadcast controller. A fully redundant uplink ensures high fail-safety during the transmission from the location of the event and thus an undisturbed experience for the viewers.

In terms of ergonomics and space efficiency, the broadcast units are at Champions League level: with the completely new room concept developed by Qvest, the rt1.tv production team now has six workstations in one compact unit. A separate sound control room in the rear of the vehicle completes the mobile production facility. The modern, efficient and fail-safe hardware in combination with the intelligent room layout enables rt1.tv to meet all the requirements of live sports reporting on location.

On behalf of Forty10, rt1.tv will realise the outside broadcast of 3. Liga matches for rightsholder Magenta Sport in HD quality and make them available live over the next four years. On each match day, six OB vans with their own satellite uplink from the company’s own fleet and 140 employees will be deployed at match venues.
