sonoVTS supplies equipment and support services to the Asian Games 2018
Germany-based broadcast products, rental and systems company sonoVTS GmbH has revealed that it provided extensive support to the recent Asian Games in Indonesia. In addition to supplying equipment and integration services to the host broadcast operation, sonoVTS also had an on-site support presence at the Games, which took place from 18 August to 2 September.
Described as the world’s second largest multi-sport event, the Asian Games are held every four years. For the latest edition – which was hosted at venues in two principal cities, Jakarta and Palembang – INASGOC (Indonesian Asian Games Organising Committee) appointed International Games Broadcast Services (IGBS), a joint venture between HBS and IMG, to take responsibility for the entire host broadcast operation.
Maintaining a long-running tradition of involvement with major sports tournaments, sonoVTS integrated the primary host broadcast control facilities in Jakarta with a high-end infrastructure including Lawo’s V_matrix virtualised broadcast ecosystem and VSM Virtual Studio Manager control system, Imagine Communications’ Selenio integrated media convergence platform, Adobe-based editing stations, EVS servers, and more.
Working in close conjunction with IGBS throughout the preparatory phase, the sonoVTS team was on-site in Jakarta from mid-July. As is usual with an event of this size and scope, the run-up period was intensely busy, but a representative for the sonoVTS team said that the collaboration with IGBS was “excellent and very productive. Everything proceeded to plan during the build-up in time for the first events on 18 August. During the games themselves we were on hand to provide any support and assistance that was required, and I can report that all operations performed very well.”
