Broadcast coverage of both the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the Beijing Winter Olympics will be explored in detail at SVG Europe’s Sport Production Summit in Amsterdam on 8 September.

Florin Mitu, FIFA, Head of Host Broadcast Production, and Dan Miodownik, HBS, Chief Executive, will discuss their plans for capturing the action from Qatar, while Isidoro Moreno, Director of Engineering at Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), will take part in a fireside chat about how and why OBS used cloud-hosted, software-based architecture and a pioneering virtualised OB van during host broadcast coverage in Beijing.

There will also be a panel discussion exploring how the sports TV industry can attract the next generation of talent. Lucy Lake, QTV, Director of People and Purpose; Aoife Murphy, Timeline TV, Outside Broadcast – Head of Operations; Armelle Canet, HBS, Head of Broadcast Academy; and Bob Clarke, MAMA Youth, Founder and CEO, will discuss which particular roles and skills are in short supply. They will also consider where the next generation of production and technical talent will come from, including routes into the industry, training and talent retention.
