SVG Europe FutureSport: BSkyB team to discuss 4K trials at the 2014 Ryder Cup
In the keynote case study at this year’s SVG Europe FutureSport event, BSkyB technical manager Robin Broomfield, BSkyB chief engineer – broadcast strategy Chris Johns and Sky Sports director of operations Keith Lane will reflect on BSkyB’s participation in extensive live trials of 4K UHD technology at the Ryder Cup in late September.
The Gleneagles gathering provided a chance for the Sky team to test as much equipment as possible in one place, allowing direct non-competitive comparisons across cameras, lenses, slo-mos, replays and contribution codecs. The output was fed both to the UHD display Sky Experience on-site at Gleneagles, and also to Sky Studios in London for further testing.
In this first-of-a-kind 4K session, key participants take us through lessons learned at the Ryder Cup and further challenges presented by this trial for the UHD future roadmap.
FutureSport 2014 will take place at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London, on 2 December. For more information, and to apply, please visit https://www.svgeurope.org/future-sport-2014/conference-program/.
