TVI secures two-year Taça da Liga soccer deal

Televisão Independente (TVI) in Portugal has agreed a deal lasting two years to broadcast matches from the Taça da Liga, the Portuguese soccer league cup.

No financial details were released of an agreement that will see the free-to-air network provide coverage of seven games per year, including one-semi final and the final in both 2013 and 2014.

The tournament is contested by teams from the highest two leagues of professional soccer in Portugal, the Primeira Liga and Liga de Honra. In 2011, it was won by S.L. Benfica, who defeated Gil Vicente FC 2-1 in the final.
