IBC 2016: Evertz, Ikegami announce development on 25GbE
At IBC 2016, Evertz and Ikegami announced the development of 25GbE products for IP-based live production. The introduction of 25GbE enables IP-based live production to support uncompressed UHD production over a single interface. With two and half times the capacity of 10GbE, 25GbE allows for eight uncompressed 3G-SDI or two uncompressed 12G-SDI for UHD, or one uncompressed UHD signal at 100/120p frame rate.
The use of 25GbE removes the complexity of managing the multiple compression formats currently proposed for UHD over 10GbE. 25GbE also provides a more manageable aggregation link between the facility which includes less cables and lower weight (for outside broadcast productions). Both Evertz and Ikegami see 25GbE as an ideal interface for IP-based facilities.
Evertz, now located in Hall 1, Stand D.31, will be debuting some of their new 25GbE enabled products as part of its Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) solution. These 25GbE enabled products include 570IPG gateways, 3067VIP multiviewers, evEDGE, IPX128 and EXE switch fabrics. Evertz has further plans to expand its development to include other IP-enable products in the near future.
Ikegami, located in Hall 12, Stand A.31, working with Evertz will deploy 25GbE as part of its IP product development for its cameras and production switchers. At its booth Ikegami will exhibit a range of cameras, including the new UHK-430 UHD camera featuring an optical block with three 2/3-inch 8 mega pixel CMOS sensors for native 4:4:4 resolution in 4K. Also at the booth will be the SHK-810 8K camera recently used for coverage of the 2016 Games in Brazil.
By working with Ikegami on 25GbE, Evertz continues to develop and improve upon its SDVN solution to seamlessly transition facilities from SDI to IP. With over 80 global deployments of its SDVN solution, Evertz is the industry leader in IP for both compressed and uncompressed UHD/3G/HD/SD applications. With the maturity and footprint of Evertz’ SDVN, Evertz has made IP available here and now.
