DFL announces 2018-19 schedule with FC Bayern kicking off against Hoffenheim

The 56th Bundesliga season will kick off with a top match between two of the best teams of last season: FC Bayern München welcome TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Friday 24 August.

Thus, as intended, the Bundesliga champion opens the new season as one of two teams involved. However, taking into account the numerous aspects relevant to the creation of the schedules, since the 2017-18 season it is no longer mandatory that the title holder starts with a home match.

The Bundesliga 2 season 2018-19 starts on Friday, 3 August. Two teams from northern Germany will open the new campaign: Hamburger SV welcomes Holstein Kiel (20:30 CEST).

The exact schedule for further Bundesliga matches will be announced the week commencing 9 July, the exact schedule for further Bundesliga 2 matches in the coming week.

In the process of the 2018-19 season, depending on, among other things, the involvement of the clubs in the international competitions and in the DFB Cup, further announcements of exact schedules will be made.
