More coverage of World Rally Championship promised as BT Sport extends rights deal

BT Sport has extended its partnership with World Rally Championship (WRC) Promoter and is promising to give UK fans more coverage of the series in 2019.

A multi-year deal has been agreed that will see BT Sport show all 14 rounds of each year’s competition. The 2019 version starts with the Rallye Monte-Carlo on Thursday 24 January.

At the same time, there are plans to “significantly step up” the live coverage with the addition of more content.

BT Sport will screen all WRC TV’s programmes across its various platforms, featuring live action, a pre-event magazine show, nightly highlights and a post-rally review. All the content will be repeated and it will also include archive shows in its programming plans.

Commenting on the deal, Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: “Our new and extended partnership means that from this year we will be showing even more exhilarating action from the WRC, which is fantastic news for BT Sport’s motorsport fans.”

BT Sport has broadcast WRC since 2014.
