PESA supplying customer service personnel to Sochi IBC

PESA, a leading US-based designer and manufacturer of professional audio and video connectivity, has customer service personnel at the International Broadcast Center (IBC) in Sochi, Russia, to support the setup and configuration of its router switcher system for the Winter Games.

The IBC features a Cheetah 864XR coax and fiber HD video routing switcher, which is an integral part of the system that provides live and pre-recorded video feeds for local distribution, as well as satellite feeds to the United States for re-broadcast. Designed for multi-format routing needs and supporting signals up to 1080p/60, the router is populated with 800×800 BNC and 64×64 fiber I/O in a 41 RU frame. The system also includes PESA’s UCI2000 controller card to allow third-party control.

Other PESA customers include the Korean Broadcast System, which will be using a system that is similar to its setup from the Summer Games in London in 2012, including two Cheetah digital video routers and two DRS digital audio routers connected to the main IBC routing system.

“There are several of our customers in Sochi,” says Chuck Tillett, PESA president and COO. “For more than 25 years, PESA has provided equipment and service support to broadcasters at the Winter and Summer Games, and we are proud to once again be a part of this worldwide event.”
