Aperi completes native-IP live media deployments and continues to expand

Aperi delivered four new major project deployments in the final month of 2017, rounding off a year that saw the company expand its global footprint with two new offices and several key hires.

Remote production workflows are no longer theoretical, but a practical way of creating live content while reducing costs. But to operate them effectively, the transport of media is of the utmost importance. As proof of the reliability of its platform, one of America’s top sports leagues has implemented Aperi’s virtualised technology to transport low-latency live feeds with the industry’s most compact, high-quality H.264 compression. This sits at the heart of the sports league’s latest remote production workflow.

Aperi’s technology has also been used to expand the functions of a fully redundant 80-channel OTT playout facility. This was done with the latest in IP multiviewer functionality and shows how IP and software-based media processing can be used not just for faster live production but for reliable distribution.

Also used to expand a global contribution network, Aperi’s software-based live production platform has also been deployed to add eight new sites to a notable service provider’s network. This is being used by a premier satellite TV provider as it expand its reach after live video needs have increased.

And finally, a continent-wide live remote production network – a project widely reported on in the last year – went live just before the end of 2017. Aperi provided the flexible and high-performing edge services to the network that links together the continent’s premier sports stadiums and production hubs to create a centralised live production workflow.

As its customer base has expanded over such a short time, Aperi’s team has also grown including the opening of its two new offices in the second half of 2017. Its Melbourne, Australia and London, UK offices are being run by David Drew and Cesare Camparada, respectively, and have been launched to support the growing need of customers across both markets.

As well as these office openings, Aperi has also added to its team of software design engineers to support the continued development of the fast-growing platform as more media organizations recognise its potential.
