Basketball Bundesliga selects Tellyo Pro as new social and digital content creation platform

Telekom Baskets Bonn plays in the easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga

The highest level league of professional club basketball in Germany, easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga, has selected Tellyo Pro as the social and digital content creation platform for the 2020/2021 season, as it looks to increase fan engagement and connections across all digital and social channels.

The move follows the closure of Twitter’s snappyTV, which had been the basketball league’s preferred method of social and digital content creation. snappyTV closed down on December 31 2019.

With Tellyo Pro providing remote access to live content for Basketball Bundesliga’s entire digital and social team, the league is able to deliver enhanced content production and publish real time highlights across all of its social channels.

To further increase engagement and keep fans even more connected to the sport they love, Basketball Bundesliga is also able to share bespoke content with influencer athletes via Tellyo Pro, so this can be shared in-turn with each athlete’s fanbase.

Like many sports, the end of the 2019-2020 Basketball Bundesliga season brought many challenges, and a condensed season finale. Fans were starved of live sports, but keen to remain connected.

When live sport returned, fans remained locked out of the venues, so Basketball Bundesliga looked to innovate and adopt technology to meet the challenges being faced.

To feed its fans content cravings and keep them connected, the digital and social teams at Basketball Bundesliga adopted Tellyo Pro to create and deliver incredible amounts of enriched content, populating all digital channels available, including their website and social media profiles.

The Tellyo platform enabled Basketball Bundesliga teams to work remotely and stay safe, while still being connected to the live action. The features and power of Tellyo Pro’s toolset allowed them to produce and publish highlights and live action edits across all of their publishing and streaming platforms. The real time nature of Tellyo provided the speed required to deliver highlights, news and full action clips capable of keeping fans engaged on social media, where they would discuss the action.

For the upcoming season Basketball Bundesliga intends to use Tellyo’s Smart editor, to integrate live game metadata from Swiss Timing. Through this integration, its staff will also be able to see this metadata overlaid onto a video’s timeline and select specific completed plays for further editing, dramatically speeding up production.

This metadata also stays with the stored content, and will be accessible in the longform recording, further increasing the value of archive content. Metadata will also be embedded into clips, which is going to boost the resulting content even more.

“After snappyTV was shut down we were in need of a new technical solution. With Tellyo we found an application which opened up even more possibilities for us. The whole process of editing and publishing has been made much easier and the workflow of our social team during the games has become trouble-free and much faster. We much appreciate the live support and also the cooperation during our season break because of COVID-19. We are looking forward to the new season being happy to have Tellyo as a reliable companion on our side,” said Nadine Vongehr, head of digital platforms, sports data and communication, Basketball Bundesliga.
