HDwireless introduces RFiber system for live sports RF signal transmission

FR HDwireless RFiberThe importance of wireless cameras for broadcasting and events is increasing all the time. The requirements regarding efficiency of wireless camera systems that cover vast areas are on the rise, especially for live sports events.

Patrick Nussbaum, CEO HDwireless, says, “When planning complex wireless transmissions we do not only use radio links. On the one hand we calculate optimal sites for RF-antennas, and on the other we connect them by fiberglass cross-links, depending on requirements. For implementation we depend on system components like RFiber.”

In the long run a stable video signal at the final transmission chain is the only thing that counts. With the in-house product RFiber that HDwireless has developed, for example, high or intermediate frequency signals can be transported without loss for several kilometres before they are demodulated by receivers and forwarded to decoders.

With this technology, signals from various antenna sites can be linked via fiberglass inside one mobile production unit — such as the HDwireless RF1 or a mobile editing unit. The HDwireless System Overview software offers effective observation of long or linked wireless transmissions.

This way, each RFiber-unit on site can be regulated transparently and intuitively. Sebastien Coat, HDwireless software developer, says: “We define the functional range of all our hard- and software based on longstanding and broad experience with projects. This software enables the operator not only to control the RFiber units but also the demodulators and decoders within the fiberglass network.”
