IABM outlines State of the Industry Conference session

IABM has disclosed details of a panel of industry luminaries who will debate the current situation in, and future prospects for, the media technology sector at its State of the Industry Conference at the NAB Show. The Conference takes place on Monday 18th April, 8-10am, Room 235/7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

IABM’s CEO, Peter White, will open the conference sharing results from the latest IABM International Industry Index and the IABM NAB End User Survey. White will then reflect on the shifts in the market that have become apparent in the latest IABM DC Global Market Valuation and Strategy Report.

Following on, IABM CTO Stan Moote will interview Del Parks, senior vice president/chief technology officer, Sinclair Broadcast Group to get an end-user perspective. The Sinclair Broadcasting Group is the largest and most diversified TV broadcaster in the US; Sinclair owns and operates, programmes or provides sales services to 162 television stations in 79 markets in US. Appointed an SMPTE Fellow in 2015, and with 40 years’ service at Sinclair, Parks brings a unique perspective to the current changes the industry is experiencing from both operational and engineering standpoints.

John Ive, IABM director of technology & strategic insight, will then chair the main debate with panellists drawn from both traditional and ‘new wave’ operators in the media technology space. They are: Tony Emerson, worldwide managing director, Media and Cable, Microsoft Corporation; George Hoover, CTO, NEP; Marco Lopez, president, Grass Valley, a Belden Brand; and David Stubenvoll, CEO and co-founder, Wowza.

“This is sure to be one of the highlights of the NAB Show, where we can take the pulse of our whole industry as it stands now and gain insight into where it is heading in the future in a stimulating conversation. The State of the Industry conference is open to non-members as well as members, so I expect a very strong turnout and would recommend booking early via the IABM website,” said White.
