MOOV wins graphics contact for ITV’s horse-racing coverage

MOOV has landed the contract to provide graphics, virtual reality and telestration services for ITV’s horseracing coverage. ITV’s exclusive new four year deal to show UK horseracing on terrestrial television took effect from the start of 2017, when its free-to-air coverage began. The coverage will encompass live broadcasts of almost 100 days of racing each year across ITV’s channels.

Starting with the New Year’s Day meeting at Cheltenham, MOOV will be involved in 41 days of racing broadcast on ITV’s main channel. Coverage will include major events such as the Grand National, the Epsom Derby, the Cheltenham Festival and Royal Ascot.

At each race meeting, MOOV provides a dedicated OB vehicle housing some of the latest graphics technology, including two dual-channel ChyronHego Mosaic turnkey graphics platforms. The Virtual Placement feature utilises scene-tracking technology to overlay virtual furlong markers, finish lines and winning jockey silks on the grass, while Paint is used to telestrate on the action, tagging horses to help identify each one, as well as providing highlights and tracking tools. Paint seamlessly integrates with the EVS network to allow clips to move backwards and forwards without tying up VT layout lines. RaceBuilder software from Piranha Graphics incorporates live race data into the on-screen graphics, including runners and riders, condition of the course and betting information. MOOV’s team of experienced graphics and virtual reality operators employ their creative talent and technical expertise to produce high quality and informative live on-screen graphics that enhance the viewer experience.
